Mould stains on bathroom silicone and grout cleaned with Forsana

Mould stains on silicone & grout

  1. Spray straight onto the stained area, leave 5 minutes, wipe and rinse
  2. Old or stubborn stains: baking soda on the mark first, spray again, scrub and rinse. Repeat if needed

Honest bit: mould that's grown through or under the silicone itself won't lift with any cleaner, ours included. That's a re-seal job, not a spray, so it sits outside our guarantee. Cleaning lifts the surface staining, it won't fix what's underneath.

Why not just use bleach?

Most people searching for the best shower cleaner are comparing it with a bleach spray. Here's the honest comparison.

Forsana H₂O₂ Chlorine bleach spray
In a small closed room No harsh fumes Strong fumes that linger
What it leaves behind Breaks down to just water and oxygen Chemical residue on surfaces your skin touches
Fragrance Fragrance-free and colourless Added perfume to cover the chlorine smell

The chemistry in one line: hydrogen peroxide is water with one extra oxygen atom. That oxygen lifts grime, cuts through soap scum and brightens grout, then the whole thing breaks down to just water and oxygen, unlike other chemicals.

Before you start

  • Baking soda is the one exception, safe to pair with the spray for stubborn marks. Beyond that, never mix with vinegar, bleach or any other cleaner.
  • Patch test natural stone, marble and coloured grout in a small corner first.
  • Old, deep-set stains may need repeat applications. That's normal.
  • Keep off unsealed timber and rinse food-contact surfaces after cleaning.

Questions people actually ask

Can I use hydrogen peroxide on tiles and grout?

Yes, that's one of the jobs it does best. Spray Power Cleaner 6% along the grout lines, leave it for 5 minutes and scrub. On dull or stubborn lines, sprinkle baking soda on first, spray again, scrub and rinse, that's the combination we'd use ourselves on stubborn lines.

Will it remove mould stains in the shower?

It removes mould stains from grout, tiles and silicone. Spray 6% straight onto the stain, leave for 5 minutes and wipe. Old, stubborn marks lift better with a sprinkle of baking soda first, then spray again and scrub. One honest exception: mould that's grown through or under the silicone itself won't lift with any cleaner, ours included. That's a re-seal job, not a spray, so it sits outside our guarantee.

Is it safe on glass and chrome?

Yes. For soap scum on shower glass and fittings, a sprinkle of baking soda on a damp cloth gives it more to grip on. Wipe with a damp cloth and buff dry for a streak-free finish. It's colourless and fragrance-free, so there's nothing to rinse endlessly away.

Will it lighten coloured grout?

Hydrogen peroxide brightens, which is what you want on white grout. On coloured grout, patch test a small corner first and start with the 3% Everything Cleaner.

What's the difference between the 3% and the 6%?

Strength. The 3% Everything Cleaner is the daily bottle for benchtops, basins and quick wipe-downs. The 6% Power Cleaner is twice the strength, for grout, soap scum, mould stains and the toilet. Both break down to just water and oxygen.

How the guarantee works

  1. Spray it on, wait ten minutes, wipe. That's the whole method for every job on this page. (Except wooden painted window sills.)
  2. Still there? Give it a second go. Hydrogen peroxide needs a bit longer on older stains, especially with the baking soda boost.
  3. No change after a couple of tries? Email hello@forsana.com with a photo and we'll help you sort it.
  4. Can't fix it between us? We refund 50% of the Power Cleaner 500ml price, $7, no matter which tier you bought.

One exception, and it's only about mould: mould that's grown through or under the silicone itself won't lift with any cleaner, ours included. That's a re-seal job, not a spray, so it sits outside this guarantee. Everything else on this page, it applies in full.
